I was a fan of the classic Jurassic Park and even read both books by Michael Chrichton. But i was positively surprised by this newest release of the the first reboot just tried to copy the original movie with a theme park idea and brought not much new into the series and was very boring overall, the second reboot makes alot different. For once the setting is different and not again on a secluded island. It is also alot more exciting with more suspense than the first movie. Also I liked the ending...I would give it 8-9 out of 27, 202050+ Movies in the Billion-Dollar Film ClubFAQ9Contribute to this pageSuggest an edit or add missing contentEdit pageMore to explore Watch Now SynopsisThree years after Jurassic World was destroyed, Isla Nublar now sits abandoned. Though Pratt and Howard command the screen with the brilliance of its CGI'd-prehistoric creatures it falls flat comparable even to its previous installment. Super Reviewer Jan 20, 2019 A strong, strong opening that it never recovers* from. *"never recovers from" here meaning "never stops dissapointing afterwards". Super Reviewer Dec 10, 2018 Come what may, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is a curious middle chapter that will likely be remembered more for its curiosities than its contributions to the overall arc of this new trilogy. What will allow the World trilogy to always have an upper hand over that of the will-always-be-superior original and its two less than successful follow-ups is that of the coherency this new set of films will seemingly possess and thus is what initially makes Fallen Kingdom so intriguing. Intriguing in a morbid curiosity kind of way as the first act of the film would have one believe it was something of a task to bring together our protagonists from the first film. Bryce Dallas Howard's no longer high-heel wearing Claire Dearing has become a voice for the dinosaurs left abandoned on Isla Nublar as a volcano is set to erupt at any moment threatening another extinction-level event. Convenient, right? Well, as it turns out this is not only an opportunity for writers Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow to move the action off of the island a good thing, but it also creates inspiration for Claire to reach out to now ex-boyfriend and "raptor wrangler" Owen Grady Chris Pratt so that they may reunite in an effort to rescue as many dinos from the island as they can. Is it necessary that Owen be brought back into the action? Not entirely and Fallen Kingdom does Pratt's character no favors by giving him little to do other than become a human super hero who in turn becomes more of a dinosaur whisperer than a trainer that is also doomed to repeat the romantic beats of the first film with Claire, but to not have the star of the first film return would feel weird as well. It makes sense to a degree, but this contradiction of sorts in need versus obligation is symbolic of what seems will come to define the shortcomings of this new trilogy as well. Owen is a fun and charismatic character that functioned well for the plot of the first film, but who is only called on to be fun and charming in this sequel despite the function of his character within the plot being largely pointless though this wouldn't be as glaring if there were more depth to the character. The movies themselves are breezily enjoyable and often times massively entertaining, but the plots on which they function will seemingly only feel more and more strained the further they push this. In essence, other than for financial reasons is there a story worth telling that justifies the existence of more of these movies? The moral dilemma of should man do something simply because it is capable has been obliterated as yet another genetically engineered dino is at the heart of Fallen Kingdom with this film moving more into should these dinosaurs be regarded in the same way as other endangered species despite being created in a lab. Much in the same way Owen is charming and fun to have around even if his presence is mostly unnecessary Fallen Kingdom only brings up said points to try and validate its existence without ever exploring them enough to make this movie feel necessary. read the whole review at Nov 07, 2018 A mediocre adventure film, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom delivers some exciting action but is a little lacking on story. When a volcano erupts on Isla Nublar Claire Dearing teams up with a wealthy industrialist to help evacuate the dinosaurs to a preserve, but when they get to the island she's double crossed. Despite having a strong cast that includes James Cromwell, Toby Jones, and Ted Levine, most of them are wasted; except Levine, who proves to be a good villain. Yet the writing is rather poor, as the plot is forced and doesn't make a lot of sense. Also, it teases mysteries that don't really pay off. Still, the special effects are incredible good, and make for some amazing dinosaur scenes. And the score does an extraordinary job at capturing the dark and tragic tone of the film. While it has its problems, in the end Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is entertaining and full of thrills. Super Reviewer A Lot or a Little? What you will—and won't—find in this movie. May 29, 2022 Dinosaurs in the suburbs...oh no! How many times are we going to go back to the formulaic constructed "horror" of a T-Rex yelling at you as you need to run faster. It appears that each film seems to get louder and louder, but perhaps that's the theatre and not the sound engineer. The twist of course is that we now have to witness another sequel...this time dinosaurs in the outer suburbs...oh the humanity! This film, although a cohesive ride...felt looooong...by the time we get to the human cloning part I kinda didn't care anymore. Nice to see Bryce Dallas Howard out of those ridiculous heels. What's the Story? JURASSIC WORLD FALLEN KINGDOM takes place three years after the catastrophic events of Jurassic World left the revamped Jurassic Park abandoned. When the volcano on the island where the park was located is forecasted to erupt, Claire Bryce Dallas Howard, who now works for the Dinosaur Preservation Group, is asked by the billionaire who helped start the original park to go on a secret mission to rescue the remaining dinosaurs so they can be taken to a special preserve. She asks Owen Chris Pratt, her now ex-boyfriend, to accompany her on the trip in order to track Blue, his beloved velociraptor. During the trip, it's clear that Claire and Owen are in over their heads; eventually they're forced into a life-or-death situation - both for themselves and for the dinosaurs they want to save. Is It Any Good? Despite this action-packed sequel's uneven tone, director Bayona continues to thrill audiences with jump-worthy suspense and to create a bond between viewers and the dinosaurs. The elements of a summer blockbuster are all there charismatic stars, smarmy villains Rafe Spall, who's inherited his father Timothy's ability to play eevil quite well, plucky/adorable child Isabella Sermon, in her first role, swooping score Michael Giacchino, doing a wonderful job of channeling John Williams, and lots and lots of heart-stopping action. But something keeps this sequel from ranking up there with the best of the Jurassic films. It explores too many avenues and doesn't close the loop on a few of the issues it raises. While the story requires suspension of disbelief in several places - and Spall's character is all but mustache-twirling in his stereotypical villainy - Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom still delivers where it ultimately counts the dinosaurs. The intricate computer-generated creatures are so convincing and so terrifying that audiences will likely grab their armrests or their seatmates during key moments. One scene in particular involving young Maisie and a foodchain-topping dinosaur will definitely tie stomachs in knots. So go for the action and the dread, but don't expect a movie that's nearly as iconic as the original Jurassic Park. Talk to Your Kids About ...
